if you knew me in high school...

oh mercy. get to know you posts are my favorite. it's like a little sneak into the past that you didn't get to be a part of and also a crazy reflection exercise. i mean...when was the last time you thought about the person you were in high school?

if you knew me in high school...
i had loooooong blond hair that my sister highlighted for me.

if you knew me in high school...
i had two jobs - mowing lawns and i worked at a chinese restaurant.

if you knew me in high school...
i played two sports for all four years - volleyball and softball. i loved volleyball but i was better at softball...and even then, i wasn't that good.

if you knew me in high school...
i was on the speech and debate team! i totally loved it and competed at state competitions. i even have a few trophies...nerd alert.

if you knew me in high school...
my older sister and i weren't really friends. now we're best friends. she went to parties and i was petrified of ever getting into any sort of trouble. needless to say...

if you knew me in high school...
i didn't drink. or do anything against the rules.

if you knew me in high school...
i totally thought i was cool. like...popular. now that i think about it...i'm not sure i was. but what a nice world to live in. completely oblivious. however...

if you knew me in high school...
i was my senior class vice president. granted...i ran the previous two years and didn't win. see...oblivious.

if you knew me in high school...
i had body issues. my boobs were too big. if i could go back i'd slap high school me. i'm sure i had a cute figure i just didn't know how to dress it.

if you knew me in high school...
i ate a slice of pizza and drank a frutopia for lunch every single day. it's a good thing i was so active in sports. again...if i could go back, i'd slap myself.

if you knew me in high school...
i drove an '85 cherry red subaru. i loooooved that little car. the muffler needed replaced so it sounded very similar to a motorcycle.

if you knew me in high school...
i took AP classes and was in the National Honor Society. but i wasn't one of those naturally smart kids. i had to work really hard.

if you knew me in high school...
i was boy ca-razy. however...i was viciously shy. i think i made it out of high school only having kissed one boy...i think. and even that kiss was not a real kiss. it was just awkward at my front door. i'm not even sure what that guy was thinking. it's funny the things we remember.

if my farmer knew me in high school...
he said he never would have dated me. rude! supposedly he was smokin' hot and much desired.

my 15 year high school reunion is looming. it's this summer and i'm 39% sure i'm supposed to be a part of the planning process. (we never had a 10 year reunion.) did any of you attend a reunion? yay, nay? what activities were planned? how was it organized? this is a call for help. h - e - l - p.

  1. Love this! Everyone says they wouldn't change anything, but I would change a thing or two from high school (like how cool I thought I was). Gah!! I went to a tiny high school, so our reunions are running into each other at restaurants, haha!! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

  3. Oh my gosh, what a great post! I may have to use it as some blog inspiration here one day. ;-) I was such a dork in high school. Actually, I pretty much still am...but I embrace it now. Ha!

  4. Love this! I was a good girl in high school too - and my sister and I weren't close. We are better now, but still not as close as I wish we could be. One way we were not alike? I had NO boobs. Wanted them desperately, but no such luck, lol

  5. I love this post. That is so funny about your husband, mine says that all the time too that he would've never dated me either and was like a chick magnet lol

  7. Bahahaha so many of these I was nodding along to, as well! I was on the debate team and actually really enjoyed it. My school was tiny so I was way over-involved.... it was the kind of place that once you did one or two extra curriculars, all the teachers looked at you and were like "Oh, you'll want to do this, too, right? We don't know anyone else's names, so..." And I was definitely the same with the boy cray/kiss thing!! xx hahaha Good luck with your reunion! I can't help as I haven't actually attended one yet... living abroad kind of kills it/saves me haha

    1. For some reason, the "notify me" button is never available when I first send a comment, so this is me sending another one. haha

  8. Ohhhh Fruitopia! Reading this post just took me back to the good ole days of being a cheerleader and throwing parties! I was not on student council, but somehow I got "nominated" to plan our 10 year reunion. We had it at brewery, everyone paid their own way in, I personally paid for a private bartender and brought in tents...then people who wanted to give me money for the bartender did. The brewery is family friendly and then those who wanted to go eat afterward did! It was simple and it turned in to a great afternoon/evening :)

  12. Hahaha! I think it's hilarious that your husband said he wouldn't date you! My hubby and I have talked about that before and we decided that we would be friends (we have a lot of the same geeky interests)

  14. This is an awesome post & I may just have to steal it. Tee hee!

I only went to my five year high school reunion & I've been out of high school for - oh my gosh, it'll be seventeen years! Eeek, I'm old!

  15. What a fun post! I stared a post describing my high school self way back when and then I never finished it! Maybe this will motivate me to do so! I didn't drink or break the rules either....and then I went to college!!

  16. I went to a really small high school, and organized our 10 year. We did it at a local winery and I had everyone pay me $50 dollars through paypal (per ticket)...it included two glasses of wine, crab cakes, cheese, other random foods, and cupcakes. It was really nice actually! Low key and everyone had fun.

  17. Oh my gosh not only do I love this post but I constantly think about how much I have changed since then! Okay maybe not constant but a lot more since we moved back to my home town. I keep seeing people I knew back then and I shudder to think what they remember of me. I'm trying my best to make up for it now. 😁 Best of luck planning!!! My 15 is this year as well....

  19. Yep, slice of pizza and a mountain dew over here. Can I get that metabolism back?!? Love this post!!!

  20. Lunch, every. single. day. was a triple oatmeal cream pie and guava juice. But, like you, metabolism. And, I played softball and volleyball, too (and for a minute thought I would track - bahaha)! I also hated my body (but I was on the other end of the spectrum - I had no boobs, very similar to today...). Wtf? I was also boy crazy, but refused to date anyone in my school, or grade. Again, wtf? 15,16, 17 year old me was pretty ridiculous.
This was a fun one! Might have to borrow it for a rainy day!

  22. Oh my goodness...I love it! I bet you were so adorable. It is so funny because looking back I see myself one way but the friends I had then totally saw me differently. I have not been to a reunion since planning my 10 year...I definitely think if it's in the fall a football game on a friday is a must. If not..it is fun to have family time, like a picnic afternoon or something and then an all adult night. We rented a location and had dinner brought in, dj, dancing. So much fun!

  23. You sound so much like me. Soul sisters, I'll tell you. We intentionally came back late from lunch one day and I CRIED THE WHOLE TIME. And dutifully refused to skip lunch detention with everyone else... because you know... We earned it. Oomph
